Lauren Tomes

Lauren is a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Physiotherapy graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand. She worked as a community physiotherapist before joining private practice where she went on to complete a post graduate course in Sports Physiotherapy (SPT 1). She recently completed her Masters in Physiotherapy (Community Health) from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is also a Clinical Educator in the Physiotherapy Department at Wits.
Lauren has experience in both the public and private sector. She has treated conditions ranging from chronic pain, stroke and post-operative cases, with a focus on end stage rehabilitation, return to sport and community reintegration. She has also worked with numerous athletes in multiple sporting codes including rugby, gymnastics, basketball, marathon running, soccer and cricket.
Other notable post graduate courses include: dry needling, advanced taping and return to sport, management of chronic back and neck pain, World Rugby: Concussion Management for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals, Medical Protocols for Match Day Medical Staff, First Aid In Rugby as well as FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine.
Lauren has a keen interest in community health. Community health is the intersection of healthcare, economics and social interaction. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the role this type of healthcare plays in their everyday lives. Working at the community level promotes healthy living, helps prevent chronic diseases and brings the greatest health benefits to the greatest number of people in need.
Beyond her professional scope, Lauren enjoys good coffee, a good book, gym and exploring the outdoors.

Eloize Mellet

Eloize Mellet qualified from UOFS in 2000 and is passionate about empowering patients to live their best life. She has a special interest and experience in sports and musculoskeletal therapy and is currently working at Waterfall SOS as well. Eloize completed her M.Sc. Physiotherapy in 2009 and has kept abreast with changes in patient care through various additional professional development courses. Eloize is also a lecturer and has assisted on the NMSP courses as well as an external examiner for the WITS Masters programme.
Eloize is currently working alongside Prof Jon Patricios and assisting with research with the University of Calgary into concussion management and safe return to sport. This exciting avenue of rehabilitation have provided answer and relief for many suffering from post-concussion syndrome
